Sarlat la Canéda : Gastronomic capital of Périgord

22 km from the Moulin de la Beune
SARLAT LA CANEDA, city of art and history, offers its visitors exceptional wealth, both by the diversity of its momuments, as its unforgettable landscapes or, and can be especially, we say its gastronomy: truffles and foie gras!
Stroll in Sarlat a day of market, your taste buds will shudder with pleasure and envy and your wallet may suffer some of your greed.
Be careful though to buy real regional products, because, despite regular checks from the authorities, it may be that under a "genuine" packaging, hide products that are not!
This small flat aside, the Sarlat market, it is INCONTOURNABLE!
Founded more than a thousand years ago, Sarlat has preserved an exceptional architectural heritage from the twelfth century to the present day and has seen the birth of illustrious people among whom we will quote:
- La Boetie: born in 1530, he writes "The discourse of voluntary servitude": which today still constitutes one of the pillars of modern democracy. He was Montaigne's friend.
- Fenelon: Tutor of the Dauphin, Duke of Burgundy, later banned from the Court of France because of his ideas on the sharing of power, too avant-garde for the time.
