Les Eyzies de Tayac Sireuil : World capital of prehistory

Les Eyzies de Tayac Sireuil has, to date, the largest concentration of registered and classified sites in France.

Some of these riches have been part of the UNESCO inventory since 1979.

But the interest of the town is not limited to prehistory.

Indeed, it also has very important medieval heritage wealth.

CRO-MAGNON, FONT OF GAUME, COMBARELLES, THE MOUTHE, etc ... have made the fame of this village of less than 1000 inhabitants which each year hosts popuring nearly a million visitors.
That said, Les Eyzies also has medieval evidence such as the fortified church of TAYAC of the 12th century, many traces of troglodyte occupation and old forges of cannonballs for the Royal Navy.

Discover the Vézère Valley thanks to the many hiking trails marked by the Community of Communes Vallée de L'Homme.

Sarlat la Canéda : Gastronomic capital of Périgord

22 km from the Moulin de la Beune

SARLAT LA CANEDA, city of art and history, offers its visitors exceptional wealth, both by the diversity of its momuments, as its unforgettable landscapes or, and can be especially, we say its gastronomy: truffles and foie gras!

Stroll in Sarlat a day of market, your taste buds will shudder with pleasure and envy and your wallet may suffer some of your greed.

Be careful though to buy real regional products, because, despite regular checks from the authorities, it may be that under a "genuine" packaging, hide products that are not!

This small flat aside, the Sarlat market, it is INCONTOURNABLE!

Founded more than a thousand years ago, Sarlat has preserved an exceptional architectural heritage from the twelfth century to the present day and has seen the birth of illustrious people among whom we will quote:
- La Boetie: born in 1530, he writes "The discourse of voluntary servitude": which today still constitutes one of the pillars of modern democracy. He was Montaigne's friend.
- Fenelon: Tutor of the Dauphin, Duke of Burgundy, later banned from the Court of France because of his ideas on the sharing of power, too avant-garde for the time.

The Castle of Commarque

From prehistory to the Middle Ages

Only 12 km from the Moulin de la Beune

Built in the 12th and 14th centuries, it is undoubtedly the most complex medieval complex of Périgord.

Commarque in the heart of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

With the castle of Commarque, Périgord has its song of gesture:

Between the Twelfth and Thirteenth Century epic poets sing the deeds of the Knights of the Ninth or Tenth Centuries and take an interest in the COMMARQUE family, in Périgord, by recording in several chansons de geste the exploits of its founder, Bovon, and of his two sons, Girart and Guiëlins.
Today, the family of Commarque is, of all those who, in the Middle Ages, inspired epics, one of the last to subsist and, to remain on the land of his ancestors still dominated by the dungeon of XII Century

Commarque will make you relive all the history of France since prehistoric times, until the medieval time while passing by the troglodyte habitats.

Visits, activities for young and old, events

The Castel of Commarque - an ideal place for a day out with the family - will leave you with an unforgettable memory just a stone's throw from your hotel in Les Eyzies de Tayac Sireuil
